$69Square Footage Secrets provides real estate brokers with timely, accurate, and needed information related to determining square footage of residential properties. This course builds on the NC Real Estate Commission’s information in recent update courses by providing ways to increase skills in personally determining square footage, to improve understanding of techniques and accuracy when brokers engage a more experienced party to provide square footage, and to better understand the square footage shown in appraisals. Topics include: choosing a measuring device, a recent Commission case, ceiling height, basements, stairs, bay windows, what is heated living area, the Commission’s “Yellow Book,” ANSI standards, measuring from the outside and inside, oddball properties, calculation review, and more.
Course Materials:
Please plan to have the following items available during class:
(1) A Measuring Device – Measuring tape, laser distance tool, wheel, or other device. You may bring multiple devices if you have them.
(2) The NC Real Estate Commission’s Residential Square Footage Guidelines (a.k.a. Yellow Book). You may download it here, if you are unable to locate your book.
Any additional course materials will be provided to all enrolled students digitally before the start of class.
Course Delivery:
This synchronous distance-learning course will be delivered via a Zoom video conference. In order to attend class, you’ll need to have an internet connection and a computer, laptop, tablet or mobile device with a built-in speaker/microphone or headset/earbuds with microphone, and a webcam. Attendance:
Please bring your pocket card to class. Attendance will be taken throughout the course to ensure that students are present for the duration of class.
