Do appraisals for the State Employees’ Credit Union? Would you like to? Then you may want to join us for “Appraisers, Underwriters, and AMCs: Bridging the Gap” in Durham on November 7th.
SECU staff suggested the content for this class and will join instructor Mel Black to address certain topics and be part of our discussion.
Topics include: Comparable selection, adjustments, use of the 1007 with the 1025, misuse of bracketing, ethical appraising that avoids hitting the contract price if the data does not support that opinion, roles of the parties (the appraiser is the appraiser and not the underwriter,) avoiding advocacy, and much more.
This specific class is the only time we have this unique class scheduled.
Appraisers, Underwriters, and AMCs: Bridging the Gap is a unique class because of how it came to be and its intended audience. The class was suggested by leadership of a large residential mortgage lender for their underwriting staff.
About the same time, an AMC’s staff also expressed interest in this type of learning environment. Brightpath was asked to put together a class that addresses common areas of misunderstanding or miscommunication between the underwriters and appraisers.
The course is designed for appraisers as a 7-hour continuing education class. However, underwriters will also be invited to attend to join in the discussion.
The goal is to present accurate, timely, and useful information to appraisers in an effort to increase appraisal knowledge and overall competency as well as to inform any underwriters or AMC staff of how appraisers do things.
This course has been approved by the NC Appraisal Board for 7 hours of continuing education credit.
